2015 Recruit Leroy Butts commits to Rhode Island

facebooktwitterreddit

According to several outlets, 2015 recruiting class prospect Leroy Butts has committed to play for the Rhode Island Rams. The very first known report came from Twitter, via Jeff Goodman.

You might remember Leroy Butts as a former Rutgers Scarlet Knights commit, but the talented forward backed out from the commitment and now joins Dan Hurley and the continuous positive direction he has the program trending towards.

With Butts’ commitment, the Rams now have two scholarships open for the 2015-16 recruiting class.

As for Leroy Butts, he is a 6’7″ stretch-four type of a player. A talented left-handed three-star prospect. A little undersized for a four, but certainly skilled enough to play some three at Rhode Island if need be. His skill set, though, does tend to lend itself to being best served playing the power forward position under Hurley.

Before committing to the Rams, Butts also considered Rutgers, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Georgetown, Penn State and the dumpster fire known as the DePaul Blue Demons.

Butts is in a position to see legitimate minutes his freshman year with the Rams. He is certainly a prospect worth remembering if you follow the Atlantic 10 closely.
