Grambling State head coach Joseph Price ousted

Grambling State has not exactly been a college basketball program where they are doing all kinds of swell things. Now, all of them can’t be directly pinned squarely on the shoulder of head coach Joseph Price, but someone has to be used as the program’s scapegoat.

Price took over the program when they were academically ineligible. A program, mind you, that went 0-28 in 2012-13 and only managed to win five games in the last two years. Yeah, read that again if you have to. Grambling State only won five games the last two years, but did manage to tally up 52 losses. So, um, the win to loss ratio was not too awesome.

Sean Isabella of The News-Star reported on Tuesday that interim school president Cynthia Warrick would be making changes. Two on her make-a-change list happened to be from the sports departments, as not only was Joseph Price ousted but so was athletic director Aaron James.

"“My primary focus as interim president is to move Grambling State University to a competitive position of excellence at every level,” Warrick said in the statement. “I have started the process of making several strategic changes in my administrative team, which is a customary practice in transitions such as this. The significant challenges facing Grambling make these decisions even more important, and I am committed to assembling the best talent possible in order to move the University forward.”"

The record Joseph Price had at Grambling State makes his firing justifiable, but one has to wonder why he wasn’t let go until July. Maybe it is because the recently hired Warrick wanted to quickly make a name for herself or the fact that when she was recently hired she didn’t want to go too overboard and can him on her first day.

Regardless, Grambling State has been in disarray for a while now. Not just the basketball program, but the football program as well. Let’s hope that Warrick and whoever she brings in to help can turn all this nonsense around  pretty quickly.
