Guard Kenny Williams commits to VCU Rams

Shaka Smart got his first commitment for the 2015 class this afternoon when ESPN top 100 guard Kenny Williams chose VCU, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
"Kenny Williams informs Scout that he has committed to Shaka Smart and VCU.– Evan Daniels"
Williams turned down the likes of UNC, Michigan, IU, and Georgetown to join Smart’s program. The decision came mostly down to location, namely staying close to home, Williams told Daniels and Scout.
"“It’s a perfect fit for me,” Williams told Scout.com about his decision to commit to VCU.“The fact that my family would be down the street was the deciding factor,” Williams added."
Williams is one of the best shooters in the class, having a sweet stroke from beyond the arc. His catch-and-shoot abilities are second-t0-none in his class. While he isn’t nearly as good off the dribble, his ability to knock down shots will earn him some playing time.
Furthermore, he is an above average defender which will fit in with Smart and VCU. This could be a springboard for Smart into the rest of the recruiting class after nabbing one of the best shooters and one of the better players in recent years for the Rams.
