College Basketball All-Decade Team of 2000s
By Jacob Rude
SF – Adam Morrison, Gonzaga
And yet, in the same year Redick dominated the nation, he was sharing headlines with Morrison, who was dismantling the competition on the West Coast. For all of Redick’s scoring accolades his senior year, it was actually Morrison who led the nation in scoring, averaging 28.1 points per game. Similarly to Redick, Morrison was lighting teams up, having 13 games of at least 30 points, with five games over 40 points. Most memorably, Morrison sent Gus Johnson to Defcon 0, a place he doesn’t often go, when he banked in the game-winner against Oklahoma State.
Awards wise, Morrison doesn’t share the same trophy cabinet as the others, considering Redick took home the majority of the awards in their final season in the college ranks. We remember him taking the nation by storm and leading little ‘ole Gonzaga into the tourney. We remember the emotional UCLA-Zags game, which ended in Morrison on the floor crying after UCLA came-from-behind to win it. He certainly has earned a spot on this team.
