Tom Izzo and Michigan State went hard at Matt McQuaid following his decommitment from Southern Methodist University late this summer. It quickly paid off for them.

Thursday morning, the four-star shooting guard promised his services to Izzo for 2015.

McQuaid is ranked #65 by ESPN and is considered one of the best shooters in the class. He talked about his commitment to Scout and Evan Daniels.

"“I chose Michigan State because I made a good relationship with coach Izzo,” McQuiad told Scout.com.“I feel like I fit in really good in their system,” he added. “When I went down there I learned a lot from the other guys and they always have guys coming back trying to help. Draymond Green and Gary Harris came back. They always have people coming back. There’s tradition there. I liked that and they win.”McQuaid entertained interest from a host of high major schools like Indiana, Texas and Creighton.“They just started recruiting me and coach Izzo thinks I can play the one, two and three,” McQuaid explained. “He wants to develop me. He sees me as more than just a shooter. He sees me as a scorer.”"

The Texas native is the third recruit in Izzo’s class for next year and the second top 100 recruit along with power forward Deyonta Davis. The Spartans already had a top-20 recruiting class prior to McQuaid, and his commitment will vault them likely near the top 10.
