2015 4-star guard Levan Alston commits to Temple

While known as a decent basketball school, Temple isn’t often the landing spot for top 100 recruits. However, Levan Alston Jr. changed that as the top-100 recruit in the 2015 class committed to the Owls program Tuesday morning.
The Philadelphia Enquirer’s website has the news as well as an interview with Alston Jr., who spoke on his decision.
"“I was in school thinking about my options. I talked to a lot of guys and asked them how to decide what school to go to,” said Alston, adding that he ran the question by fellow 2015 Temple commit and AAU teammate Trey Lowe. “I asked a lot of guys how they reached their decision. Most of them told me that one day it’s going to just hit you. It hit me on Monday.”"
Alston’s father, Levan Alston Sr., played at Temple himself, which led to the initial interest. During the summer, the Owls hired former Temple star and family friend Aaron McKie as an assistant, which was the turning point.
"“That was huge,” Alston said of the August hiring of McKie, who also played at Gratz High School, like Alston Jr.’s father. “His hiring was a key deciding factor. Coach [Fran] Dunphy and I are very close, but Aaron has been a friend for years. He’s a guy who went on to play at the next level, and I have a lot of faith that he can be crucial in helping me to get there.”"
Alston will join close friend and fellow four-star recruit Trey Lowe at Temple next season. The duo likely will be the backcourt of the future and give Temple a solid recruiting class for 2015. Will this give the Owls the boost they need to become a solid program again?
