Kentucky guard Tyler Ulis 3/4 court sprint in 3.1 seconds (video)

Quickness is one of the most useful physical attributes for a basketball player. If you’re quicker than your opponent, you’ll likely have a nice game, or if nothing else, be a handful.
You likely won’t find a quicker player than Tyler Ulis.
The Kentucky point guard was the subject of an Instagram video posted by John Calipari on Wednesday, showing his three-quarter court sprint. The freshman flew down the court in just 3.1 seconds.
For comparisons sake, 3.1 would have been the fastest at this year’s draft combine, matching K.J. McDaniels time. It would have been second to only Shane Larkin in 2013 and tops again in 2012.
And this is comparing it to players who practice and prepared for the draft combine weeks and months in advance. I doubt Ulis has been preparing himself for this sprint.
Did we mention he’s just a freshman?
Not only is he a freshman, but he’s apart of Calipari’s roster that is loaded with talent. It’s so chock full of prospective NBA players that Coach Cal is hosting a sort of combine, inviting NBA scouts to watch his team practice and presumably perform drills like this before shutting out scouts for the following weeks. Calipari hopes this lessens the distractions of having NBA personnel around during a much hyped season.
