Recruit News: Henry Ellenson commits to Marquette
By Jacob Rude
Steve Wojciechowski has yet to even coach a game for the Marquette Golden Eagles, yet he’s already landed one of the more highly rated recruits in school history.
Henry Ellenson, ranked #9 in our top 60 recruits for 2015, committed to Marquette Thursday morning according to multiple sources.
Ellenson’s recruitment to Marquette took a big turn when his older brother, Wally Ellenson, transferred from Minnesota to Wojo’s program. However, battling blue bloods like Kentucky and Michigan State wasn’t going to be easy for Marquette, but they pulled it off on Thursday.
The five-star talent is a power forward, standing at 6’10”. He has a developed game in the post, something many kids at his level do not possess. His 7’2″ wingspan and good hands lends him to be a good rebounder as well as a decent defender.
Ellenson will need to work on his athleticism at the next level in order to succeed, but he will still likely step in for Marquette on day one and start.
The commitment of Ellenson gives Wojo his fourth recruit for 2015 and one of the top classes overall. Nick Noskowiak, Haanif Cheatham, and Matt Heldt will join Ellenson next season, giving Marquette not only one of the best recruiting classes in the nation, but one of the best in recent school history.
