Billy Donovan revealed some big news for the Florida Gators this season on Wednesday. Two Gators will be suspended, with big man Chris Walker out for the first three games while Brandone Francis will be out for the year due to academic issues.

Walker was a big-time recruit for the Gators last season, but was ruled academically ineligible for half the season. He joined the team in February last year, but is expected to have a big impact on this year’s team. Fortunately for the Gators, it appears his suspension is only a short-term punishment and he can still provide Donovan’s crew a big presence on the court.
Francis, however, won’t be able to prove his worth with the Gators. The #35 ranked recruit by ESPN, Francis was likely to see a good amount of playing time to help fill the holes left by the host of seniors that graduated last year.
Instead, Francis will be sidelines with academic issues. With the first official game just over a month away, Donovan will have time to replace any production Francis may have given.
More notably, Walker will miss the contests against William & Mary, Miami, and Louisiana-Monroe. However, he will be ready for the Battle 4 Atlantis, which will see them face Georgetown before possibly battling Wisconsin.
