Wisconsin’s Sam Dekker Suffers Ankle Injury
By Alex Miller
It’s every team’s worst fear-an injury to a key player. Wisconsin seems to have just dodged that bullet. Junior forward, and potential All-American Sam Dekker injured his ankle earlier today in practice.
According to Jeff Goodman, the injury is not considered to be serious and Dekker has officially been listed as day-to-day.
According to reports, the injury occurred during a 4-on-4 drill when Dekker drove to the basket. He immediately went to the locker room and did not return to practice.
Dekker averaged 12.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season as he helped lead Wisconsin to their first final four since 2000. It was a season that was free of injuries-the Badgers started the same 5 players in every game last year. A healthy lineup will be key if the Badgers (No. 4 in the preseason coaches poll) want to return to the Final Four.
Thankfully, the injury isn’t serious, and Dekker should be ready to go for the Badgers season opener on Nov. 14 vs. Northern Kentucky.
