Top 65 recruit Chris Clarke commits to Tennessee

Chris Clarke, a forward out of Virginia, gave a verbal commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday, giving them their first top-100 prospect of 2015.

Clarke is ranked #63 in our rankings and the 11th ranked small forward on the list. He’s the third recruit to commit to the Volunteers and Donnie Tyndall’s program, joining shooting guard Shembari Phillips and small forward Admiral Schofield, both rated as 3-star prospects according to ESPN.

Clarke’s 6’6″, 190 pound frame lends himself to a lean, lanky body frame. While ESPN and Rivals consider him a small foward, 247sports does list him as a shooting guard, showing his versatility. ESPN’s scouting report talks about his high motor and potential as a solid glue guy.

"“Clarke is a long and athletic wing forward that is very active. He has an excellent motor which allows him to compete with great energy. He is an above the rim finisher on the break and he attacks the glass on both ends especially offensively. He is a good two or three dribble straight line driver and he is capable of defending multiple positions. Clarke will not hesitate to do the dirty work as well. He will not shy away from charges or loose balls.”"

The commitment of Clarke takes the lone scholarship spot Tennessee could offer this season, assuming no other scholarship players left via draft or transfer. However, they made it count with a perimeter player like Clarke.
