Three Indiana Hoosiers Suspended For First Four Games
By Jacob Rude
Tom Crean, your seat is warming up.
After tragic news this past weekend involving an accident with sophomore forward Devin Davis leaving him in serious condition, Crean revealed Monday prior to his local weekly radio show that sophomores Troy Williams and Stanford Robinson, along with freshmen Emmitt Holt, would all be suspended the first four games of the season.
The former duo would be suspended following a failed drug test, the latter for his involvement in the weekend’s accident.
The scrutiny stems from not only the fact that four of his players will not be available on opening night, but that Crean seems to be losing control of the Indiana Hoosiers program.
These suspensions don’t include the arrest of Yogi Ferrell and Robinson in the spring, who were caught with fake IDs and were arrested for underage drinking while attempting to enter a bar.
On top of all that, Crean has had a host of players transfer over recent seasons. In total, six players over the last two seasons have left the program, raising a host of questions. Most notably, in 2013-14, Crean not only lost Tyler Zeller and Victor Oladipo to the draft, but Maurice Creek and Remy Abell to transfers.
Last year, Luke Fischer transferred mid-season while Austin Etherington, Jeremy Hollowell, and Peter Jurkin all transferred following the season.
Crean has his work cut out for him with an upset fan base and an undermanned roster. The tide could be turning on the man who brought Indiana back to prominence.
