It’s rare for the defending national champions to miss out on many recruits in the year’s following their title. It’s even more rare to get beaten out by a mid-major. But both happened to the Connecticut Huskies by losing out on Mack.
His commitment gives Smart two four-star forwards in the class so far, Mack joining #88 overall Kenny Williams.
Shaka Smart and VCU now have a pair of four-star prospects in 2015. Mack joins talented shooter Kenny Williams.

Mack is known for his scoring ability, which should be a great weapon for Shaka Smart to use next season alongside fellow scorer Williams.
"Mack has a reputation as a high-level scorer. He obviously has good size for the perimeter, but he’s a good long-range threat and a player that can create his own shot opportunities off the dribble."
UConn now has the rare (and undistinguished) chance of striking out entirely on the big recruits. Five-star point guard Isaiah Briscoe still has UConn as a contender, but the common belief is that the Huskies are out of the ball game to land his services.
For VCU, clearly Smart is becoming a force in the recruiting game, making his Rams teams’ that much more dangerous.
