Florida Gators: Dorian Finney-Smith Diagnosed With Broken Hand
By Jacob Rude
The Florida Gators suffered a potentially big setback on Saturday when the results of x-rays on forward Dorian Finney-Smith’s hand came back that the redshirt sophomore has a hairline fracture in his non-shooting hand.
"Finney-Smith suffered the injury – initially believed to be a sprain – early in Florida’s 68-45 win over William & Mary on Friday. After heading to the locker room for tests and a wrap, he returned to the court and led the Gators with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go along with five rebounds, a steal and an assist."
As of now, his status for upcoming games in uncertain. While Finney-Smith showed he can play through the pain, it may not be wise to risk further damage to an injury this early in the season.
The Gators, however, are already short staffed. Chris Walker has yet another game to sit out due to suspension and guard/forward Alex Murphy has to sit out nine games per NCAA’s transfer rules.
Billy Donovan will have quite the decision to make. The Gators still have a handful of games to prepare for a showdown against #5 ranked Kansas on December 5th.
Would you sit Finney-Smith and field an undermanned team, or play him and run the risk of re-injury? Let us know down below!
