Indiana Hoosiers: Revisiting The ‘Wat Shot’

Three years ago, the Indiana Hoosiers were desperate to return. Kelvin Sampson had left the program in near shambles between player boycotts, sanctions imposed by the NCAA, and a coaching vacancy that would be hard to fill.
But under an energetic coach in Tom Crean, the program entered the long road to rebound, culminating in one of the biggest shots in Indiana University basketball history.
In the immediate aftermath, it became known famously around Bloomington as the “Wat Shot.”
To your average college basketball fan, it was simply a buzzer beater. It capped off a fantastic rivalry game and gave the Hoosiers a big victory that would look good on a tournament resume.
But to the Hoosier faithful who had lived through it all, it was a signal of the return of a storied program.
