Dayton Flyers: Devon Scott, Jalen Robinson dismissed from team

Dayton announced that forwards Devon Scott and Jalen Robinson have been dismissed from the team. According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, the dismissals follow a dorm room theft. Dayton Daily News writer David Jablonski first broke the news via Twitter:

This isn’t Scott’s first incident while at Dayton. Over the offseason, he faced allegations of striking the mother of his 2-month-old child. Dayton suspended him from team activities during the investigation. Prior to that, he missed Dayton’s 2013 exhibition opener following an unspecified violation of team rules.

Scott, a 6-foot-9 junior, started all nine of the team’s games in 2014. He averaged 9.1 points and a team-leading 7.4 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game. Robinson served as Scott’s primary backup, averaging 3.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game.

Without Scott and Robinson, Dayton’s chances to make another Cinderella run in March are virtually nonexistent. The duo are Dayton’s only players over 6-foot-6. Without any viable post players, it’s difficult to see the Flyers making a successful run through Atlantic 10 play, much less through the NCAA Tournament.
