Louisville Cardinals: Montrezl Harrell Suspended One Game

facebooktwitterreddit

Following his involvement in an altercation during the Louisville’s game against Western Kentucky on Saturday, Montrezl Harrell has been suspended one game by the ACC.

"The Atlantic Coast Conference has issued a one game suspension to Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell after he received a flagrant foul two during the Cardinals’ game against Western Kentucky on Saturday. The suspension will be served by Harrell in Louisville’s next game against CSU-Northridge on Tuesday. The ACC considers the matter closed and will not have further comment."

Harrell was issued a flagrant two during the game and was ejected. However, he was also involved in a further altercation and, while no punches were landed, many were thrown. Fortunately for those involved, the fight did not escalate much bigger and referees got control of the situation.

Harrell is the second leading scorer for the Louisville Cardinals, averaging 16.7 points per game. He is the leading rebounder, though, pulling down 10.0 boards a game. But most importantly, Harrell is the emotional leader for Rick Pitino on the court, leading Louisville’s stifling defense.

All things considered, this is good news for Pitino and his crew. While the team knew a suspension was likely, having Harrell suspended for just one game means he’ll be available for Saturday’s showdown against the Kentucky Wildcats.
