Boise State Broncos: Anthony Drmic out for season
By Jacob Rude
The Boise State Broncos took a big hit on Tuesday when it was announced that senior guard Anthony Drmic would be ruled out for the season with an ankle injury.
Coming into this season, Drmic was expected to be a key piece of the Broncos, having averaged 15.9 points a game in his junior season last year. In his seven games played this season, Drmic was second on the team in scoring with 15.0 points a night while shooting 37.2% from downtown. With back court mate Derrick Marks, who is also a senior, the Broncos had a stable pair of leaders to help them. However, Drmic had not played since December 6 against Saint Mary’s.

In the seven games with Drmic, Boise State managed a 5-2 record with the losses coming to Wisconsin and NC State, both respectable. Drmic’s big performance of the season came against Montana when he managed 29 points in a double overtime victory.
Without Drmic, Boise managed a 5-1 record and sit at 10-3 overall. With Colorado State still undefeated, Boise still has a chance at a second place finish and a tournament berth, although their chances took a big hit with this injury.
Drmic will be able to return next season, which is a small consolation prize. The Broncos will have some talent returning next year, with currently only Marks being the significant loss going into next year, but he’s a big one.
