This may come as a surprise to some, but we are already closer to Selection Sunday than we are to the season’s opening tip-off that was only more than two short months ago. The mid-way point of this college basketball season is upon us, leaving us with just the dog days of conference play and conference tournaments to separate us from the madness that awaits in March.
It’s a perfect time to take a look back and analyze those who we expect to make this season memorable as we barrel ahead towards March. Though college basketball headlines have been dominated by Kentucky’s quest to be undefeated and Coach K’s journey towards 1,000 (despite his reluctance to acknowledge the accomplishment), the season has produced a variety of storylines that have added a compelling amount of depth to the season and the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Sure, this may be the year where we all choke on chalk dust while watching Duke and Kentucky in the National Championship, but that also leaves the door open for epic upsets and truly unpredictable moments. Until then, here’s our take on the best of the best so far.
