Busting Brackets March Madness Fantasy 2nd Round

#4 Team Piasecki at #1 Team Tondamantham

The top seed continues to roll. Jones and Booker finally looked like freshmen when matched up against Pitino’s pressure defense. Pointer and Brogdon dominated the game defensively at times, leaving Trimble to once again lead the offense.

Tuttle and Portis were no match for the size and strength of Gathers and Harrell inside. Johnson was a surprising bright spot once again for Team Piasecki, using his athleticism to over-match Pointer and Brogdon in low post situations. The inspiring performance wasn’t enough.

Team Tonda 59, Team Piasecki 50

#7 Team Rude at #3 Team Bennett

The defensive deficiencies of Team Rude rear their ugly head in round two. Bennett’s trio of devastating guards ran roughshod over Cook and VanVleet from start to finish, making up for an impressive performance from Towns, who outplayed Okafor on both ends of the floor.

The difference in the game was Looney, who abused Ellis and showed the entire country what the Pac-12 has known all season. Team Rude’s frontcourt dominance spearheaded another upset, and moved them into the finals of the winners bracket.

Team Rude 77, Team Bennett 72

Losers Bracket Results

#2 Team Tran at #5 Team Sherman

What have I done?! The two teams that I planned to see paired together in the championship round are somehow meeting in the losers bracket. Clearly I tinkered with the format a bit too much.

In an anticlimactic match-up, Team Sherm knocks out Team Tran in the game of the tournament so far. The difference was a maniacal crowd at Phog Allen that delivered a winners bracket atmosphere, despite the disappointment of having already lost a game.

Team Sherm 81, Team Tran 79

#3 Team Bennett at #4 Team Piasecki

Somehow, the three best rosters in this tournament are all in the losers bracket. Team Tran will be disappointed with how things ended for them, but Team Sherman will move on along with Team Bennett. Wells proved to be the solution to Johnson’s great play, and there was no answer for Okafor.

Team Bennett 75, Team Piasecki 62
