The Huskies ruined the chances for America’s favorite marriage-turned-university name by beating William & Mary rather handily in the Colonial conference title game. While the final score looks close, the Tribe had a frentic, last-ditch rally to try to salvage their season, but it was too little, too late.
The result sees a Huskies squad dancing, and boy are they in for a rude awakening. Their schedule, ranked 193rd strongest, featured powers like Fairfield, Delaware, and Charleston. Only if Harvard beats Yale will the Huskies have faced another tournament team, and they were blown out by Harvard in early December.
The Huskies don’t rank well statistically on the defensive end and aren’t an offensive powerhouse either. It’s a bad mix for a team vying for an upset, but did beat Richmond on the road once in late December for their best win of the season, so they have that going for them.
