Busting Bracketology – 12th seed, South Region
The Terriers (3rd on the mascot names ranking) are a pretty good step up above the North Florida Ospreys, coming in as a 12-seed, most likely. Everyone loves a good 5/12 upset, and Wofford could be your fix.
However, they’re pretty much the opposite of a modern day offense. They don’t run in transition (15.4% of shots, 325th in nation), they don’t shoot threes (32.5% of shots, 222nd in nation), and they don’t get to the bucket to score (35.3% of shots, 197th in nation). Stats just don’t go well with this Wofford squad.
They did beat an “on-the-bubble” NC State team, but were slaughtered by West Virginia and Duke. But they get a pass for all of this for helping us avoid watching 11-21 Furman in the tournament.
