As it stands this morning, mid-afternoon, Texas A&M is on the outside of the tournament looking in, among the first four out in Joe Lunardi’s bracketology. A tournament run will be necessary for the Aggies, and that starts today with a match-up against Auburn.

Texas A&M limped into the post-season, losers of three of their final four games. The stretch took them from in the tournament as a nine-seed to out of the tournament. The silver lining is that their one win in that stretch came against the Auburn Tigers, an 80-55 beat down in College Station.
If the Aggies are going to resurrect their tournament hopes, it’ll need to start with a similar performance today. The bracket is set up nicely for a potential Aggies upset of LSU in the next round before another meeting with Kentucky, a team they memorably took to double overtime in their only meeting this year. A win over LSU might put them into the tournament, but a win over Kentucky would be historic.
But none of that matters if they don’t take care of business against Auburn today.
Winner: Texas A&M
