2. (14) Georgia State vs. (3) Baylor, West Region
Why This Upset Will Happen: The more I look at this match-up, the more I love this Georgia State team. First, you have future NBA player R.J. Hunter, who can score with the best of them and averages 19.8 points per game. On his heels is Ryan Harrow, who averages 18.7 points per game as a senior guard. The team’s third best player, though, might be the most well-known. After transferring from Louisville, Kevin Ware landed at Georgia State where he led the Panthers past arch rivals Georgia Southern in the conference title game.
Why This Upset Won’t Happen: Among other reasons, Rico Gathers is not easy to match-up with. On top of that, Baylor’s zone is hard to match up against for teams outside the Big 12 who don’t see it often. With Gathers, the Bears are 13th in the nation in rebounding at 39.2 boards a game, which is nothing to scoff at. On top of that, this is the biggest stage Georgia State will play at the lights could be too bright for them.
