5. (13) Eastern Washington vs. (4) Georgetown, South Region
Why This Upset Will Happen: This will be the trendy pick for your 4/13 upset over the next couple days, and rightfully so. This Georgetown team is over-seeded and I would have thought a 5-seed might have been a bit high for them. This team just isn’t one of the 16 best teams in the country as their seed would indicate.
Meanwhile, this Eastern Washington team is nothing to overlook. They walked into Assembly Hall earlier this year and upset the Indiana Hoosiers, sport the 7th best effective field goal percentage in the nation, and have the 46th most possessions per game, which means they can push the tempo.
Why This Upset Won’t Happen: D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera will be the best player on the court, and between him and the massive Joshua Smith, Georgetown could have enough about them to avoid this upset. But don’t expect a deep tournament run.
