Yes, the Oregon Ducks exited in the second round, but it was not at the fault of Young, who played superbly for two rounds. In the opening game against Oklahoma State, Young poured in 27 points on 8-of-15 shooting and led the Ducks to victory with a dominating performance.

But it was his second-round output that nearly took him to another level. Outmatched against the Wisconsin Badgers, Young was relentless, finishing with 30 points and attacking the Badgers all night long. Despite battling Wisconsin to the wire, Young’s performance wasn’t enough as the Badgers out-lasted the upset-minded Oregon squad and moved into the Sweet 16. But a 28.5 points a game average in this tourney is undoubtedly the best.
If you date back to the regular season, four of Young’s final five games saw him score at least 25 points, with the only off-night coming against the Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 championship game. And he wasn’t worthy of the Pac-12 player of the year?
