It’s not a surprise that the lowest-seeded team in the region is the least likely to make a Final Four run. There’s a variety of reason, which starts with the fact they almost weren’t even in this situation. If not for a massive collapse by the LSU Tigers landed them a spot in the Round of 32. That shouldn’t necessarily be held against them, especially considering they handled the top-ranked Wildcats in the next game.
They’ve obviously previously played the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC regular season and hold a W over them when they met in the KFC Yum! Center on Valentine’s Day. The game featured a no-show performance from Montrezl Harrell and a terrible shooting night from Terry Rozier. Those two are now playing at a top level, with Rozier coming off a 25-point performance against Northern Iowa and Harrell playing at his typical high level.
The Wolfpack obviously are playing at a high level, too, or they wouldn’t be at this point in the tourney. However, they’ll be the underdog in both of their games, which means it’s highly improbable if they make the Final Four.
