NBA Draft: Potential Sleepers Selected in the Second Round
The second round of the NBA Draft is often seen as an afterthought when compared to the rest of the draft festivities. Most of the players selected aren’t in attendance to come up with a post selection photo-op, and the commissioner doesn’t even stick around to announce the picks. The second round definitely lacks some of the cache that is associated with the first 30 picks of the draft, and we all know the real reason why this is the case.
The appeal of watching the draft is watching teams land difference makers, franchise changing players. Many of the players selected during the second go around will never play a meaningful minute in the NBA.

However, this doesn’t mean that the second round won’t produce its share of gems. This is the part of the draft where highly productive college players often find themselves coming off the board. Maybe they lacked the ideal height or skill set to be a first round prospect. Others may have been labeled with the dreaded “tweener” distinction, raising uncertainty about where on the floor they would be able to play as a pro.
The point is that a second round selection is not always indicative of second round talent, and it’s very likely that at least one of these new draftees will follow in the footsteps of a player like Draymond Green, a former second round pick who just cashed in by re-signing with the Golden State Warriors for $85 million after helping the team win a NBA title.
Cheers to those with a chip on their shoulder and plenty to prove. These are the potential sleepers from the second round of the NBA Draft.
