ACC Basketball: Seth Curry and his Sensational Summer of Basketball
Sometimes it can be tough being the little brother, especially when you see the big brother excelling and similar things are expected of you.

What quickly comes to mind is Mark and Dan McGwire.
Mark McGwire was spraying home runs all over major league ballparks showing that greatness was going to be connected to him forever. Then it turned out he was on P.E.Ds, but no one cares.
His little brother Dan McGwire was a promising NFL quarterback who people felt would be a great passer because of his size, arm strength, and family pedigree because of Mark’s exploits. That did not work out so well.
Same thing with Jose Canseco and little brother Ozzie. Jose turned out to be one of the best home run hitters in recent memory while Ozzie, not so much. I know Jose cheated, he blew the whistle on everyone else, I get it.
The bottom line is that there are plenty of instances where the little brother does not end up playing up to the bar that was set by his older brother.

It is almost like people forget that they are two different people and have their own learning curve and capabilities.
Thus is the story of one Seth Curry who has watched his older brother Stephen Curry set the bar of expectation pretty high for him.
While Seth Curry was in the NBA Developmental League winning D-League championships, Stephen Curry was building his NBA legend and having people argue if he or Russell Westbrook is the best point guard in the NBA on social media.
While Seth Curry was building his stock up to get into the NBA, Stephen Curry was setting single season records for three-pointers made and winning his first NBA Championship.
That is why the Summer of 2015 becoming “The Summer of Seth Curry” is such a beautiful thing. It is almost like a coming out party for little bro.
Before this Summer, Seth Curry had only played four NBA games in two seasons with three NBA teams, Memphis and Cleveland in the 2013-14 seasons and Phoenix during the 2014-15 season.
In the D-League however, Curry was establishing that he was going to be able to break into the NBA at some point with his shooting ability.

In his two seasons of service in the D-League with the Santa Cruz Warriors in 2013-14 and Erie BayHawks in 2014-15, Curry averaged 21.9 points a game in 81 games played.
But his performance in the Las Vegas Summer League with the New Orleans Pelicans is what elevated Seth Curry to a whole new level.
Curry led the Vegas Summer League in scoring averaging 24.3 points per contest shooting 45.9% from the field to go along with 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 3.2 steals per contest.
His best performance of the Summer was his 30-point outburst against the Milwaukee Bucks with 9 of 17 from the field and 10 of 11 free throws.
Seth Curry had done enough in the Summer League to catch the attention of the Sacramento Kings who decided to sign the former Duke standout to a 2-year contract.
Just in case people thought that the 2-year contract was going to slow down Seth Curry’s reign of Summer terror, not so fast.
Curry is currently playing in the “Drew League” out in Los Angeles, and he is putting on a show there also.
It is now time for Seth Curry to begin his NBA story. He has earned every bit of good fortune that has been throw his way because of his hard work and he is starting to see the pay off this Summer.
What makes it so great is that with the Sacramento Kings picking him up, we will be able to see the sibling rivalry between him and Stephen played out on the NBA Hardwood.
No one wants Seth to be like Stephen, we just want to see Seth establish his own story and not be in Steph’s shadow.
This is easily one of the best Summers ever for Seth Curry, but let’s hope he has an even better Fall.
