West Virginia Basketball: West Virginia Mountaineers NBA Prospects
The West Virginia Mountaineers have had a good basketball team for a few years now under Bob Huggins, but we wouldn’t call the team “great” yet.
They would have to get to the NCAA Championship in order for us to say that. However, that doesn’t mean that their roster isn’t filled with great players and talent.
For whatever reason the West Virginia Mountaineers seem to produce great talent but fall short when it counts. This year might be a little different as they’ve added pieces to their roster that could put West Virginia over the hump in tournament play.
But do they have any NBA talent? We are going to focus on the older guys on this team, who have a chance to be drafted by a NBA team. They have a few standouts, and with the young guys support, there’s no reason they shouldn’t improve upon last years stats to build a nice NBA draft resume.

Devin Williams is a great place to start for this team.
This 6-foot-9, 255 pound junior forward out of Cincinnati,Ohio has the frame that NBA teams like. Williams was able to drop 11.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game last season, and these numbers are up from the previous year.
Williams was able to increase his PPG from 8.4 to 11.6, and with his rebounds going from 7.2 to 8.1 per game it shows how he was able to get on the glass effectively.
Williams has become a terror around the rim, and can get you the second chance points that you want out of a big man.

Not to be overlooked, but when it comes to the “free” points from the line, Williams is shooting .702 which is a respectable number for a big man.
The next guy that has potential to go pro would be that of Jonathan Holton. Now I know he doesn’t seem like the sexiest pick in the world, but hear me out. He’s stuck around with the program for all four years and is a senior now. He’s played limited minutes and is okay with this, but when he gets the chance to play he makes the most of his time on the court. To me, he’s a great sixth man.
Now with that being said, I don’t think he will be drafted, but I do see a team liking him enough to sign him after the draft for a tryout, and guys like him who hustles every chance they get, will turn a lot of heads.
Holton can get you a solid 7.5 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He only got 21.5 minutes last season solook for him to get a lot more playing time this year to improve on those numbers.
With these two on the court for the Mounties, I see big things in their future and a long run in the NCAA Tournament. Also look for big things from these two standouts, and for them to improve on their NBA Draft stock.
