No. 11 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

This is the team that you hope has turned the corner in ACC Basketball.

Brian Gregory had the Yellow Jackets off to a strong 9-3 start last season before the bottom fell out from under his squad in ACC play.

But there is something different about this squad when you watch them perform.

Travis Jorgenson and Josh Heath seem to be far more poised this season in running the show and more importantly the Yellow Jackets to this point do not appear to be searching far and wide for their offense.

More from ACC

This season Georgia Tech is putting up a surprising 81.0 points per game and shooting 46.7% from the floor for the season.

What still seems to be a problem is the Jackets ability to knock down the long ball. Georgia Tech is shooting a mere 33.8% from beyond the arc this season which is something that everyone thought was going to be an area that was going to be improved with the addition of Adam Smith to the lineup.

Smith has added some much needed firepower from deep shooting 43.4% from three-point range, but overall the marksmanship has been scarce.

Georgia Tech’s strength continues to be in the block with Charles Mitchell dominating the glass and becoming a double-double machine with averages of 14.5 points and 13.0 rebounds.

Mitchell along with Nick Jacobs who is dropping 10.8 points and 5.9 rebounds play off each other very well in the post and should make Georgia Tech formidable in the long run.

It is simply too early to say if Georgia Tech is a different team this time around. Tech fans will tell you that they have seen this episode before just last season.

In the end the Yellow Jackets story will be written during ACC play.
