No. 9 Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest is the team that was expected to make a major push this season under Danny Manning and they have made enough early rumblings to back that sentiment.

The Demon Deacons have beaten some quality opponents so far this season with wins over Indiana, Bucknell, and UCLA.

Devin Thomas has played very good basketball in the early going dropping 18.6 points and 11.4 rebounds on the ledger on 54.5% shooting from the field.

It was already thought that the success of Wake Forest was going to hinge on the production of Thomas, but he is getting a lot of needed help from his supporting cast early in the season.

More from ACC

Konstantinos Mitoglu has been huge on the frontline along side Devin Thomas averaging 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds..

Mitchell Wilbekin has been a solid backcourt leader playing 34 minutes and putting up 10.8 points per game.

Wake still has games against Xavier and LSU to make resume statements with as they head into conference play.

Honestly, it would be a bit of a surprise if the Demon Deacons were not participating in the NCAA Tournament this season. They are already collecting the necessary wins and simply need to have a strong showing in conference play.
