Georgia Bulldogs: J.J. Frazier Squashes Yellow Jackets in Athens
This is not an article to give you some kind of elaborate breakdown of what happened between the Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
This is just to make sure that we acknowledge the damage that was done by J.J. Frazier today in Athens.
For whatever reason J.J. Frazier will not get enough ink for the punishment he dealt out in helping UGA finish the Yellow Jackets 75-61 Saturday afternoon, but we are going to make sure that his explosion gets recognition.
I probably should be careful when I say that “Clean Old-Fashioned Hate” played out on the hardwood Saturday. That title is reserved for the annual football entanglement that happens between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgia Bulldogs.

But regardless of what you want to title what happened in Athens, Ga today, we need to acknowledge the work that J.J. Frazier put in.
Frazier was bombing away and hitting his target to the tune of 35 points, three rebounds and four assists on Saturday and there was nothing that a single Yellow Jackets’ players could do about.
We are talking about 6 of 9 from three point range, 9 of 14 from the field overall and 11 of 12 free throws knocked down from the charity stripe.
The free throws mean that there was no guarding him, he was getting to wherever he wanted on the court period and the Georgia Tech defenders were reaching.
But what is funny is when people where breaking basketball nationally and telling you which teams have the best guards in the nation you never hear anything about J.J. Frasier, Charles Mann, and Kenny Gaines and that is puzzling.
It is puzzling because it is almost like the whole nation is sleeping on the backcourt personnel that Mark Fox has assembled with the Georgia Bulldogs.
It is almost like you have to be a devout follower of the SEC or live in the Southeastern Region of the United States to truly appreciate the type of backcourt talent that the Georgia Bulldogs bring to the court game in and game out.
You are going to hear about how great Kentucky’s Tyler Ulis, Jamaal Murray, and Isaiah Briscoe are.
You are going to hear about Vanderbilt’s Wade Baldwin or LSU’s Tim Quarterman and Keith Hornsby even.
But for some reason you are not going to truly know how good J.J. Frazier is unless you have watched him with your own eyes and followed him yourself.
On the season the 5-foot-10 point guard is averaging 13.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
Yeah, he is shooting a very weak 32.9% from the floor this season for UGA, but his value is not found in his efficiency, it is found in the tempo he sets when he comes on to the floor, and more importantly, the instant offense that he provides for the Bulldogs.
When Frazier comes off the bench, he is looking to pace the club and get his own shot.
Today was not a blip on the radar for J.J. Frazier, he is very capable of getting a hot hand and doing damage.
How many people know that he had 37 points against Mississippi State last season for the Georgia Bulldogs outside of the state of Georgia? Very few people to none!
He has scored double-figures in six of the eight games that he has taken the floor this season.
This kid is instant offense and is one of the best sixth men in the country.
Georgia as a whole is not as good as they were last season because they are without the frontcourt power that Nmanja Djurisic and Marcus Thornton provided.
But this team is still capable of winning games and especially the ones that they are not supposed to win.
This game over the Yellow Jackets, regardless of the fact that the Bulldogs were at home, was a game that they were not supposed to win.
But this can happen when you have talent in the backcourt like Georgia does, and someone who can get a hot hand like J.J. Frazier is capable of.
This is going to a happen a few times in SEC play from not only Frazier, but Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann also.

As long as you have solid backcourt play you can compete in college basketball and this was a good example of it.
The Georgia Bulldogs may not make the NCAA Tournament this season, but they are going to play spoiler to a few team because of the backcourt firepower they possess.
