  • Niang is averaging 19.2 points and 6.5 rebounds this season on 52.7% shooting from the floor and 39.6% shooting from beyond the arc.

His value to the Cyclones has been huge when you consider that Steve Prohm has taken over as head coach of Iowa State in place of Fred Hoiberg who moved on to the NBA, and the fact that this team has leaned on Niang for his leadership.

That leadership is keeping Iowa State in the upper echelon of the college basketball landscape.

The Big 12 is going to be a tough conference this season with Kansas and Oklahoma being very formidable this year.

Iowa State figuring out a way to win the Big 12 could go a long way in to getting Niang the nod for the Wooden Award.
