3. Grayson Allen – Duke Blue Devils

Grayson Allen played his way into the “Player of the Year” mix this season by becoming a leader this season for the Duke Blue Devils and providing some major offense this year.

The Blue Devils are 9-2 this season with respectable losses to Kentucky and Utah as their blemishes this season which has Duke ranked No. 15.

Even though Allen was coming off of having a great game in last year’s National Championship, no one expected that he would use the momentum from his outing that night to be the leading scorer for Duke averaging 20.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists so far this season.

What makes these numbers even more impressive is the efficiency that he is shooting the ball with.

Allen is shooting 46.3% from the field and 41.2% from three-point land in 33.9 minutes of work.

Sadly this is the one player who we expect to fall out of the running by the time Spring rolls around because of the emergence of freshman Brandon Ingram.

Brandon Ingram just might play his way into the “Player of the Year” fray before it is all said and done, but since we are basing this off of what has taken place during the non-conference schedule, Grayson Allen’s performance makes him a “Top 3” candidate in our eyes.
