2016 NBA Draft: Four Takeaways from Brooklyn
Denzel Valentine to Bulls makes perfect sense.
I wanted Denzel Valentine on the Bulls like you wouldn’t believe. I wanted him and Jimmy Butler in a two man game even more than that.
I wanted Valentine in Fred “The Mayor” Hoiberg’s quintessential Iowa State/Georges Niang role. I wanted another shot creator who could knock down three pointers when given the space. And when the defenders crept up into his grill, make them pay by making smart, heady plays.
I wanted a guy that could make smart plays. Who had great vision and above average ball handling skills.
Somebody that was ultimately excited to be on the Bulls:
And I got my wish.
I know there are some knee injury concerns, so go ahead and make whatever “So you trade away Derrick Rose’s knees for Valentine’s knees” joke you want. I know that I could eventually eat all of these words. But Valentine is exactly what the Bulls need right now.
He’s another leader that can do a plethora of things well, who will also play nice in the sandbox with Butler.
