3. 1997-98 North Carolina Tar Heels

North Carolina was reeling with talent in 1997-98. They had Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison and Shammond Williams. Not to mention Brendan Haywood was on the bench, and he turned out to be pretty good.

But this Tar Heel squad was one of the best teams to never win a National Title. Jamison averaged a double double alongside of Carter’s 16 points and five boards a game. There is no reason Carolina shouldn’t have had another title.

But with a 34-4 season, making it to the National Championship, and having the players they did, they certainly deserve a top three ranking.
