ACC Basketball: Top 20 teams of all-time
1. 1981-82 North Carolina Tar Heels
Isn’t it only fitting that the greatest player of all-time gets his team as the best ACC team ever?
Michael Jordan, a one time NCAA champion and six time NBA champ.
There was also a few other players you may have heard on the team including Sam Perkins and James Worthy. They were “somewhat” important.
But really, this UNC team was awesome and not even because their offense was great, but instead it was because their defense was stingy. The Tar Heels finished with the tenth best defense in the nation. Plus, they beat Patrick Ewing and Georgetown in the championship game.
Out of Jordan, Worthy and Perkins, MJ ended up averaging the least amount of points. This team ran the ACC for three years, but they only ended with one National Championship.
Next: Creighton off-season question marks
This team is first overall because they had the best individual talent, a strong regular season, and won the ultimate prize of a National Championship. They would’ve beaten every other team on this list.
