6. Jim Larranaga (Miami)

Career record: 560-366 (60.5%)
Record at Miami: 118-57 (67.4%)
NCAA Tournament appearances: 7
Final Fours: 1
National Championships: 0

Jim Larranaga hasn’t been incredibly successful over the course of his career, but he does have a handful of NCAA Tournament appearances and a Final Four on his resume.

And to his credit, most of his coaching career has been spent at small schools that get far less attention from big-time recruits than the majority of ACC schools.

Having said that, his tenure with the University of Miami has been intermittently successful, making two NCAA Tournament appearances in five years and finishing first in the ACC in 2013. His 118-57 record at Miami in five years includes a mark of 54-34 within the ACC. He’s even had some success against perennial powerhouses Duke and North Carolina.

This season, Larranaga brings in a top-15 recruiting class that includes four-star recruits Dewan Huell and Bruce Brown. With that in mind, it’s understandable why expectations around the Miami basketball program are high going into the 2016-2017 season.

Larranaga’s not likely to take this team all the way, but they’re certainly good enough to compete with the top half of the ACC.
