8. Leonard Hamilton (Florida State)

Career record: 478-397 (54.6%)
Record at Florida State: 278-187 (59.8%)
NCAA Tournament appearances: 7
Final Fours: 0
National Championships: 0

You’d find few people to argue the fact that Leonard Hamilton’s success at Florida State has been…limited. You’d also find few people who even took the time to consider Florida State basketball prior to the arrival of Hamilton.

Before Hamilton got to Tallahassee, the Seminoles won less than 40 percent of their games and appeared in only 10 NCAA Tournaments in 70 years. Although he hasn’t gotten FSU to the Big Dance in the last four years, he did launch FSU into college basketball’s grand event from 2009 to 2012.

In total, he’s taken the Noles to the tourney four times in 14 seasons; twice as frequent as the previous seven decades.

And even though the results haven’t lived up to expectations as of late, Hamilton finds himself with a top-15 recruiting class and returning superstar Dwayne Bacon back on campus for his sophomore season.

Between Bacon and incoming five-star big man Jonathan Isaac, Florida State is in a position to win immediately. If Hamilton can’t win now, some may wonder when he will.

And while nobody will expect him to come away with an ACC regular season title, most will expect an NCAA Tournament berth.
