We start with Miami. Jim Larranaga is coming off an Elite Eight appearance and was named the ACC Coach of the Year in 2015-16. How is he supposed to follow that up, considering Tonye Jekiri, Sheldon McClellan and Angel Rodriguez and are all gone?
By recruiting of course. He added two five-star recruits in Bruce Brown and Dewan Huell. Larranaga is the only other ACC coach alongside Mike Krzyzewski to add more than one five-star recruit to his team for the class of 2016.
It didn’t stop there though. Larranga also added Rodney Miller and Dejan Vasiljevic. All four of these players can and will contribute immediately to this Hurricanes’ team.
The Hurricanes won’t finish second in the ACC and make the Elite Eight like they did last year, but there is still an opportunity to make some noise. Larranaga is proving himself to be one of the top coaches in the conference.
