1. Duke vs. North Carolina

When: February 9, March 4

Prediction: Split series

Did you think I forgot?

No, of course I didn’t forget the greatest rivalry in college basketball. The Tar Heels lead the overall series 134-108. However, Duke has gone 11-4 against their Tobacco Road rival since 2010.

This year there is Joel Berry II against either Frank Jackson or Grayson Allen, Theo Pinson against Matt Jones, Justin Jackson against Jayson Tatum and Harry Giles against Kennedy Meeks or Isaiah Hicks.

As long as Duke stays healthy, they easily have the better team, no questions asked. But, there always seems to be a “reset” when these two teams play each other. It doesn’t matter who has what, the underdog usually finds a way to get one win – like last year when Duke went into the Dean Smith Center highly over matched and came out victorious.

I always predict a split series because it’s the greatest rivalry, possibly in sports, for a reason. Coach K and Roy Williams are two of the greatest coaches in college basketball history too.
