Duke Basketball: Grayson Allen back to his old “trips”?

Duke basketball’s Grayson Allen has lost all benefit of the doubt regarding any “tripping” incidents.

When Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski suspended Grayson Allen indefinitely for his continued lack of composure on the court, a lot of people (myself included) thought he would put his immature behavior behind him.

We learned today that he is still up to his same old “trips.”

In Duke’s eventual 11-point victory over Boston College on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium, Grayson Allen displayed the exact same sort of tripping motion that got him in so much trouble last season, and led to his aforementioned suspension this year.

As you can see in this video, Allen has apparently not yet learned his lesson. While it may not be nearly as violent as many of his past incidents, it is still far from a normal basketball movement and is something that may need to be addressed further by the Duke coaching staff. Allen has lost the benefit of the doubt in regards to these types of incidents.

Boston College guard Connar Tava, the victim of Allen’s tripping, also got in on the fun on Twitter by posting a response that was later deleted (Tava said, “Can’t stop, won’t stop.”).

Tava didn’t stop there, as he also posted this in response to a Sports Illustrated tweet that referred to him as “someone.”

This is far from an egregious move by Allen, especially in comparison to some of the incidents he has been criticized for in the past. However, it is really alarming that he continues to do the same thing time and time again even after being suspended for it.
