The Virginia Cavaliers held off the Clemson Tigers in an ACC basketball showdown.

The No. 19 Virginia Cavaliers defeated the Clemson Tigers, 77-73, on Saturday afternoon at Clemson’s Littlejohn Coliseum. The Cavaliers have won two straight following back-to-back losses and sit in fourth place in the ACC.

The Tigers continue to play well but they have lost lost four straight ACC games and continue to fail to execute down the stretch. The Tigers are tied for last place in the conference.

Clemson held a lead for most of the first half until the Cavaliers took the lead with 4:45 to play. Virginia looked to pull away several times in the second half but Clemson kept fighting back.

The two teams went back and forth for most of the second half and the Tigers were able to tie the game with 2:18 left at 70 points apiece.

The Cavaliers were able to pull away late thanks to the play of London Perrantes. The senior guard scored a game-high 25 points, including a clutch 3-pointer that gave Virginia the lead and a late layup to secure the win.

Mariol Shayok was the other Cavalier to put up double-digit points, tying a career high with 17 and recorded seven rebounds.

Clemson had three players score in double digits, but failed to finish the comeback and pull off the upset. Jason Blossomgame scored a team-high 22 points and Avry Holmes and Gabe DeVoe both had 15 points.
