Xavier Basketball: Myles Davis opts to leave school
One of Xavier basketball’s veteran guards is finished in Cincinnati, as Myles Davis is leaving the school.
After facing an indefinite suspension that lasted for the first 15 games of the season, Xavier’s Myles Davis was reinstated to the Musketeers’ program for a road battle against Villanova. He played two games following that outing but has officially decided that it’s in his best interests to leave the program.

Davis released a statement on Friday evening, revealing that it’s time for him to move on from Xavier.

Davis scored two points and didn’t make a field goal in the three games he was active for this season. He shot 0-of-8 from the floor, grabbed two rebounds and dished out zero assists in 34 total minutes. The veteran guard also picked up four fouls in 10 minutes against the Butler Bulldogs.
In 2015-16, Davis had a significant impact on the Xavier program. He was not only the leader in the locker room and provided a ball handler to help Edmond Sumner push off the ball, but he also averaged 10.8 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 40 percent from the field and 38 percent from long range.
Xavier certainly could’ve used the services of Davis this year, however, he was not in the right mindset (or in good enough shape) to contribute to the program.
And that’s difficult news to deal with if your Chris Mack.
Xavier is likely going to make the NCAA Tournament, but their resume is not very thick and Sumner is currently battling a nagging shoulder injury. With Mack’s unit lacking a reliable backup point guard (Quentin Goodin is still adjusting to Big East play), having a limited Sumner doesn’t help the Musketeers’ case.

Xavier will likely be fine without Davis, but maybe, just maybe, they would be a top 10 team with the veteran on the floor. It’s going to be a tough task for the Musketeers to make a long NCAA Tournament run.
