UConn Basketball: Huskies dismantle USF to get back on winning track
UConn basketball scores big in second half to get the win, but they still have a lot of work to do if they want to make a run in the AAC Tournament.
The UConn Huskies exploded for 57 second half points to score a 97-51 victory over the South Florida on Wednesday night.

The Huskies made 16-of-24 from three-point range as a team, which is a school record. They shot 35-of-56 for the game.
Rodney Purvis had 29 points, including 6-of-9 from three-point range. Jalen Adams scored 18 points with 10 assists for the double-double.
UConn needed the win as it helped them get back over .500 (6-5) in conference play. However, it takes more than a home win against South Florida to get into the NCAA Tournament conversation.
The only chance the Huskies have of reaching the Big Dance is winning the AAC Tournament in March. UConn has a chance to take advantage of their home court and run the table.
Thanks to the win, UConn still has a shot at a top-five seed in the AAC Tournament. By cracking the top five, they’ll have a first-round bye.
Winning out is the case for a lot of teams in the AAC as Cincinnati and SMU are the likely conference representatives in the NCAA Tournament, based on national Bracketology information. UConn has made it to the conference championship game for three straight seasons. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for them to make it four in a row.

Whether they can pull that off or not, remains to be seen. UConn will try to continue the winning trend Saturday in Orlando against Central Florida.
