Oklahoma basketball has lost its leading scorer for the remainder of the year in Jordan Woodard due to a torn ACL.

Oklahoma senior point guard Jordan Woodard has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee, the school announced. The injury ends Woodard’s collegiate career.

Woodard was a gigantic piece for Oklahoma’s team for not only this season but all four years he has been in Norman. While the Sooners are struggling greatly this year with a record of 8-16, Woodard gave Oklahoma a huge boost in their Final Four run last season.

Woodard injured his knee in the second half against Iowa State last Saturday. He jumped awkwardly on a layup that he was fouled on, immediately coming down in severe pain.

Woodard has been a major part of Oklahoma’s success the past few years. In all four years as a Sooner, the 6-footer averaged 28 or more minutes per game. In terms of his career totals, he averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. His 1,440 career points rank 14th among Oklahoma’s all-time leading scorers, and his 471 career assists are fifth all-time among Oklahoma players.

In the 2016-17 season, Woodard averaged a career-best 14.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

The NBA Draft looks to be out of reach for Woodard, considering he is absent in virtually all draft boards. However, I am certain he will work out for many teams in the coming years and could have a career overseas.
