5. Scoring

This is more of a fact than a storyline to keep an eye on. Virginia must score the ball. Sounds simple but sometimes the Cavaliers struggle to do it. Everyone knows that Virginia is known for their defensive prowess. It’s impressive when you watch them hold teams to 55.3 points per game this season.

What isn’t impressive is when they score less than their season average and lose because of it. On the year the Cavaliers average 66.6 points per game. In only two of their nine losses did they meet their average. They are holding teams to low scoring outputs mostly, but when they struggle to score themselves, it’s impossible for them to win.

This will be something to keep up with as post season play ramps up. Virginia can slow any team’s offense up, but their Achilles’ Heel may be their own offensive struggles.
