ACC

Lead-Pipe Lock: North Carolina, Louisville, Duke, Florida State, Virginia, Notre Dame, Miami, Virginia Tech

Some Perspiration: None.

Better Double-Up on the Deodorant: Syracuse, Wake Forest

Syracuse Orange, 18-13 (10-8): Yes, you are going to find Syracuse in a lot of projected fields, but not mine. Why is that? Look at their RPI. Nobody has made the NCAA Tournament with that bad of an RPI. The Orange do have six wins against the RPI top-50, but two wins in the ACC Tournament would make them very comfortable. That would give them a 20-win season and an above-.500 record against the RPI top-50. The problem for Syracuse is that they have to play Miami in their first game and then North Carolina if they win that one. Remember, this Orange team is just 2-10 outside of the Carrier Dome. It would not be a surprise if they fell to the Hurricanes.

Record vs. RPI top-50: 6-7          Record vs. RPI 50-100: 3-3

Current seed: First Four Out     RPI: 80     SOS: 54

Bad losses: at Boston College, vs. St. John’s, vs. Connecticut

Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 19-12 (9-9): Wake Forest was able to win their first game in the ACC Tournament over Boston College on Tuesday. This was a good start, and one more win would likely give them a lock for the NCAA field. That win would come against a very talented Virginia Tech team, and their next opponent would be Florida State, who would definitely not hurt Wake’s chances of making the field. It seems likely that the Demon Deacons will be announced on Sunday.

Record vs. RPI top-50: 3-8          Record vs. RPI 50-100: 6-4

Current seed: 11     RPI: 32     SOS: 12

Bad losses: None.
