After the first weekend of March Madness, only 16 teams remain. In response to their first two games, I ranked the Sweet 16 teams.

Last week, I ranked every team in the entire Big Dance from to 1-68. With most of the tournament field now eliminated, only the sweetest of teams are still in the field. Based off of team quality, recent trends, and tournament play to this point, I have returned with my rankings heading into the second weekend.

These rankings do not look at which teams are most likely to win the NCAA Tournament, as match-ups are not considered for the rankings. Match-ups are taken into account when discussing a potential run for a team, but not for the number associated with each team.

If your team has already been kicked out of the tournament or your bracket is in flames, hopefully these rankings and the analysis that goes with them gives you a little help as to which teams to root for next weekend and beyond.

Over the course of the tournament so far, there have not been many upsets. Although this makes the first couple days less eventful, it creates some outstanding match-ups during the second weekend. The push for the title gets even more fierce as the number of teams has dwindled to 16.

Now, let’s get into the rankings!
